No More Acne – Quick & Easy Tips
Most people are quite familiar with acne blemishes. Some suffer as teenagers while others struggle with acne as adults. Acne can affect more than your face; it can also appear on your shoulders, back and chest.
To get rid of acne in the quickest fashion, one needs to follow some basic guidelines:
Step One - Practice Effective Daily Cleansing
Thorough cleansing is essential when trying to improve the condition of your skin. Wash your face at least twice a day, preferably in the morning and before going to bed, with a good antibacterial facial soap or cleanser. Wet a clean washcloth with warm water and apply your cleanser of choice. Using gentle, circular motions, apply the cleanser to your face avoiding the delicate eye area. After apply the cleanser, thoroughly rinse it off with warm water followed by a final rinse with cool water. The cool water will close your pores which have been opened by the warm water wash. After your face is clean, apply a good oil-free moisturizer (preferably containing a sunscreen with an SPF of 15).
Step Two – Make Healthy Choices
Try to make healthy food choices whether dining at home or in a restaurant. Broiled seafood or poultry, fresh fruits and steamed vegetables, along with a garden salad make for a delicious and healthy meal. When consuming breads or pasta, choose whole grain products. Avoid processed foods as they usually contain saturated fat and excess sugar which can aggravate acne. Remember, a clean body on the inside makes for a clean body on the outside!
Step Three - H2O; Drink It Up!
Water is extremely important in maintaining a clear complexion. Not only does it flush impurities and fat out of our bodies, it hydrates our skin making it appear smooth and soft. Try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Non-caffeinated beverages are fine, but pure, clear water should be your beverage of choice.
Step Four - Know When to Ask for Help
In some cases, acne does not clear up with these steps. When it doesn’t, it is wise to seek the advice of a reputable healthcare professional or a dermatologist. Sometimes prescription antibiotics are necessary to effectively clear up acne, especially in severe cases. If your acne is not responding to the above suggestions, please contact a professional who may prescribe an antibiotic and/or prescription cleanser or lotion. Often times, this is all that is needed to clear up a bad case of acne for good.
